From October 20 to 25, 2019, the master students Gregori P. Conterato e Talles Augusto B. Spada participated in the 25º International Congress of Mechanical Engineering, COBEM 2019, which took place in the city of Uberlandia – MG – Brazil. At this event the members of LASHIP presented two papers regarding modelling of pneumatic systems applied in small hydroelectric power plants. These publications are results of the research and development project of ANEEL, code PD-00387-0117/2017, which is being developed in partnership with the companies CTG Brazil and Reivax S/A Automation and Control.
The main goal of this project is the replacement of hydraulic systems, traditionally used for automation and control of turbo generators, by the pneumatic technology. This innovative approach is capable to provide the reduction of acquisition and maintenance costs, along with the reduction of environmental impact through an oil-free system. This initiative will be pioneer in the application of this system in a hydroelectric power plant as a pilot project.
The event was a relevant opportunity to disseminate and enhance the importance of the partnership between industry and academy to the development of national technology.
