Abstract: This work presents a study of requirements to control the back chamber pressure in mold inserts built by stereolithography and proposes a system using a proportional hydraulic control. The Direct AIMTM, method is used in order to produce the injection mold inserts. The work analyser the improving of the cooling in the mold insert back chamber with no copper pipes and without epoxy and aluminium compound filling, as traditionally is done. In the studied method, the cooling is done by a hydraulic fluid that circulates in the mold insert back chamber having direct contact with it. The fluid pressure is controlled in order to compensate the injection pressure, minimising the deformations that occur in the insert. It is presented the modelling and simulation of a hydraulic control system that uses flow rate and pressure proportional valves. The achieved results give support for further construction of a prototype.
