Results obtained by FLUMES/LiU from models, simulations and experiments will be used both in the improvement of solutions in digital hydraulics and in studies of flight control in a simulator. Finally, results achieved in the project will be shared with FLUMES/LiU for future implementation of developed actuation systems at Iron Bird, intensifying international cooperation.

Project: “Development of an innovative solution for low head turbine using hydrostatic transmission”

Financing: CNPq

Coordination: Antonio Carlos Valdiero

Participants: Victor Juliano De Negri; Marcos Paulo Nostrani; Felipe Micoski Luz

Period: December, 2022 – December, 2026.

Objectives: To develop a modular alternative solution for generating electricity from low-head damps (renewable source) that innovates in the use of hydrostatic transmission (TRL-2 technology maturity level for this application) and uses modules with available technologies, such as low-head turbine (Kaplan bulb type turbine with TRL-8 technology maturity level) and electric generator (with TRL-8 technology maturity level) for applications in rural properties and also as an alternative to using the energy available in the sanitary flow from Small Hydroelectric Power Plants (SHPs), reducing dependence on electricity distribution companies in rural areas, creating an alternative and/or emergency source in case of supply problems in the main energy network, developing low-cost automation to managing energy demand.

Project: “Research and proposition of solutions for low volumetric displacement hydraulic pumps for use in electro-hydrostatic compact actuators”

Financing: Bosch Rexroth

Partner: Bosch Rexroth

Coordination: Victor Juliano De Negri

Period: August, 2022 – July, 2023.

Objectives: The objective is to carry out bibliographic research on the current state of art on low volumetric displacement hydraulic pumps used in fluid power systems as well as to analyze displacement principles and propose solutions to be implemented in hydrostatic transmissions for subsea valve actuators.

Project: “Pneumatic systems and electro-hydrostatic actuators for speed governors”

Financing: CNPq

Partner: Reivax SA Automação e Sistemas

Coordination: Victor Juliano De Negri

Period: March, 2022 – February, 2025.

Objectives: This research project deals with the use of new technologies for speed regulation in hydroelectric turbines, replacing the classic architecture of hydraulic circuits used worldwide. Hydraulic systems of hydroelectric plants commonly use large volumes of hydraulic fluid, usually mineral-based oil, and large valves developed specifically for use in hydroelectric plants. In this context, we investigate the use of pneumatic systems to replace hydraulic ones for small hydroelectric power stations and the development of hydraulic systems with decentralized architecture as an alternative for reducing the volume of oil and eliminating the use of distributing valves.

Project (Coordination LAR/EMC): “Reconfigurable, self-propelled robotized platform for transporting transformers in difficult-to-access spaces”

LASHIP’s subproject: Development of the hydraulic systems

Financing: Celesc Centrais Elétricas de Santa Catarina

Coordination: Rodrigo de Souza Vieira (LAR/EMC)

Participation (LASHIP): Victor Juliano De Negri

Period: December, 2019 – January, 2023

Objectives: Development of a prototype of a reconfigurable, self-propelled robotized platform for transporting transformers in difficult-to-access.
